The New Surry Theatre’s Performing Arts School (now in its 39th year) is an opportunity for people of all ages to study not just Acting—but many more of the skills that are needed to be a great actor, or just unleash their creative juices and have more fun in life.
Since the 1970s, the New Surry Theatre has made acting lessons the foundation of its success. Many of the actors in NST productions have studied acting with Bill Raiten prior to being on stage. Over the years, actors like Herb Mitchell, Cindy Robbins, Charlie Alexander and many others have used their training to make audiences clamber for more.
Performing Arts School students will have the joy of dancing to Broadway songs, learning stage combat, acting in scenes, designing character makeup and learning how to audition with “Truth”. They’ll be able to use these skills in theatre, interviews for jobs and colleges or just to make their lives a lot more fun. Educators will be able to receive three CEU credits for each course.
